toys 01 - Little Misses Buscher"
The women of the Bauhaus are so sorely ignored, I was three years deep into a design program before ever hearing of one (besides Anni Albers).
Alma Buscher was a pioneer of modern children's toy and interior design. She understood the importance of fostering children's spaces, as much as those of adults, and she used modern design language to strengthen those playful characteristics that are so present in her work.
My crude and colorful blocks were meant to be reminiscent of her toys - and, an ode to how important and beautiful play can be - for those of all ages.
